Coleridge Downs

Coleridge Downs is busy working farm, situated in the Rakaia Gorge of Mid Canterbury, where we accompany the training of 8 farm Cadets each year.

Coleridge Downs is a highly productive working farm, sharing the passion and opportunity of training young people into our industry.

The operation encompasses three farms within the Rakaia Gorge and another farm approx 1 hour away in the Waimakariri Valley, totaling approx 9500ha and 19 Staff.

We offer the opportunity for School Leavers to apply for 4 cadet placements each year, for a 2 year cadetship. Practical training is provided through working alongside our senior staff in the day to day management of our sheep, beef and deer farms. 

Theory qualifications are achieved with the support of our full time Training Manager, whom also takes care of all the cadets pastoral care and support alongside our dedicated team of senior staff.

We take an all encompassing approach to our cadet's development as all senior staff take pride in mentoring each cadet personally. We provide an onsite cook to ensure each cadet's well-being is taken care of.

 We take enormous pride in our graduating cadets entering the Agricultural Industry with a sound and thorough skill base from which to launch their successful Agricultural career.
